General Questions
What is Outdoor Access, and how does it work?
Outdoor Access connects outdoor enthusiasts with private landowners for hunting, fishing, target shooting, and other outdoor recreational activities. Members can book exclusive access by the day, week, season, or year while landowners set the rules, availability, and permitted activities.
What type of reservations/leases are available?
Outdoor Access offers three ways to reserve properties for outdoor recreation: Daily Reservations (book by the day or week for exclusive access — Premium membership is not required), Seasonal & Annual Leases (secure longer-term, exclusive access — Premium membership is required), and Permits (non-exclusive reservations for activities such as hiking, fishing, or kayaking).
How much does it cost?
Pricing varies as landowners determine pricing for their offerings.
How do I make a reservation or book a lease?
Visit the search page to explore listings in your area by selecting your preferred state or county. You can choose between Long Term (seasonal and annual leases) and Short Term (daily and permits) to find what suits you best. When you're ready to secure a lease, the checkout is simple. If you don't have an account, you can create one, choose a membership tier, and provide background check information. After that, you'll receive essential documents, including directions, a parking permit, and a landowner permission form, available in the My Leases section of your account.
What is an Outdoor Access Membership? Is it required? What does it cost? What does it get me?
Outdoor Access offers two membership options. You can choose the Basic membership for free or opt for the monthly or annual Premium membership. Both options include hassle-free booking for daily listings, insurance during your reservations, and customer support. Premium members enjoy special perks, including access to seasonal and annual leases and lower daily reservation fees. An annual Premium membership is required to purchase seasonal and yearly leases.
Booking & Reservations
How is Outdoor Access different from a hunt club or an Outfitter?
We believe that hunt clubs and outfitters provide excellent access to land. However, Outdoor Access offers a flexible, affordable alternative that complements traditional land access methods and allows you direct access to private property. Many of our landowners have never made their properties available before, allowing us to present new and exciting outdoor opportunities for our members to enjoy!
Can I invite guests or bring children on my lease or reservation?
Yes, in most cases, you can invite additional participants during the booking process. When your guest accepts an invitation to join a lease or reservation, Outdoor Access will prompt the participant to register an account, complete a background check, and agree to the lease terms. Children under 18 do not need to register an account; they simply need to be noted when you book your reservation and be under your direct supervision at all times.
Can I modify dates or the number of guests on an existing reservation?
Absolutely! You can easily modify your daily reservations by extending your dates or adjusting the number of participants. Simply head over to the My Leases section in your account or reach out to the OA Support team, and they'll be happy to assist you!
Can I cancel a reservation?
Cancellation options vary by listing and booking type. In general, if you cancel a daily reservation within 24 hours of purchase, you'll receive a full refund. For those looking to change plans with at least 14 days' notice, Outdoor Access credit is offered for future bookings. Cancellations made within 14 days of your reservation's start date are non-refundable. For seasonal and annual leases, cancellations requested within 24 hours of booking qualify for a full refund. After 24 hours, leases are non-refundable.
How does the background check work?
All adult members and their guests must complete a background check. The third-party partner, Checkr, conducts this background check, and results are usually returned within twenty-four hours. Outdoor Access does not store any private information, including Social Security numbers, at any time.
How do I get in touch with a landowner?
Landowners choose how much communication they would like to receive from members, and this can differ from one listing to another. If you have any questions about a listing or an upcoming reservation or need assistance communicating with landowners, contact the support team.
How do I scout a property?
Most listings that offer long-term lease options will also allow for scouting reservations. You can book a scouting reservation directly on the listing page, allowing you to visit the property before making a lease commitment. If a listing does not currently offer a scouting option, reach out to Outdoor Access Support.
How do I provide feedback on my trip?
You can submit a review for each reservation by navigating to the My Leases section of your account. Click the Past Reservations tab, then select Review.
Is there a referral program?
Occasionally, Outdoor Access offers referral bonuses for both new members and new landowners. The referral program is regularly adjusted. Contact Outdoor Access Support if you're interested in referring a new member or landowner.
How can I stay up to date with all the latest Outdoor Access news and information?
Check the website frequently and enable email communication to stay updated. Select "States of interest" during account creation or in the account info section. Also follow us on Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok, and YouTube.
What documentation will I receive after purchasing a lease or booking a reservation?
Every approved member or participant will receive: a Landowner Permission Form to carry at all times, a Parking Pass to display on your dashboard, and property-specific arrival instructions with access details and a link for directions. Additionally, a copy of the Lease Agreement and Terms is available in the My Leases section.
Can I use a tree/climbing stand, ground blind, or game cameras?
Yes! You are welcome to set up trail cameras, tree stands, ground blinds, and climbing tree stands during your lease or reservation. Follow all safety guidelines and best practices, do not cause any lasting damage to the trees (no spikes or nails), and refrain from leaving any gear on Outdoor Access properties between reservations.
How do I add members or guests to a Seasonal or Annual lease?
Each lease option specifies the maximum number of participants allowed, including yourself. The listed price includes access for your entire party. All guests must pass a background check, register for a free Outdoor Access account, and accept the Lease Agreement. To invite a guest, go to the My Leases section and click the Add Guest button to send an email invitation.
Do you offer payment plans, or can I place a deposit to hold a lease?
Payment plans are offered for most long-term leases during checkout. To hold a property while you decide on a long-term lease, contact Outdoor Access support to arrange a non-refundable deposit.
I'm having trouble accessing my account. How can I reset my password?
You can reset your password by clicking "Reset your password" on the Sign Up / Sign In page.
My guest is having trouble accepting the invite or submitting their background check info. Can you help?
Have the guest contact Outdoor Access Support directly. For faster service, provide the following information: Reservation Dates, Listing Name, and Primary Lease holder.
What if my name, or a participant's name, is not showing up on the permission slip and parking pass?
For your parking pass and permission slip to be valid for all participants, each adult over 18 must accept the lease invitation, register for a free Outdoor Access account, submit their background check information, and electronically sign the Lease Agreement.
